German producer and sound-artist Michael Fakesch - best known as one-half of the highly acclaimed, pioneering, Electronic ‘glitch-hop’ duo, Funkstörung (!K7 Records, Monkeytown Records, Musik Aus Strom, and remixers of Björk, Wu-Tang Clan, Jean-Michel Jarre and Lamb) celebrates the 20th anniversary of his ground-braking debut solo album, Marion.

Quietly first released in November 1999 in the wake of Funkstörung’s own debut album and a string of high-profile remixes, Marion quickly became something of a cult game-changer in terms of Electronic Music Production as Funkstörung’s signature production sound was dissected and Michael’s razor sharp approach to glitch, bass and dense rhythm and melody was laid bare for the first time, minus the pop and hip-hop influences Funkstörung’s other-half (Chris De Luca) would ordinarily contribute.

Marion’s stark, intense production and arrangements were balanced to beautiful effect with masterfully woven melody and atmosphere, making for a compelling, highly influential and truly cult classic release that still sounds like nothing else even now, 20 years on.

For 2019, UK Based Electronica label, Bit-Phalanx Music are approaching their own 10th anniversary, and are paying tribute to a selection of their own most influential albums, and have invited Michael mark the 20th anniversary of Marion with a very special, fully remastered and expanded double-edition re-issue, especially for Cassette Store Day on Sat 12th October 2019.

Across the beautiful double cassette edition (featuring a fully revised design by the legendary The Designers Republic), Cassette One features the original 10 track album, fully remastered by Michael.
Meanwhile, Cassette Two includes an 11 track collection of rare white-label B-sides, never-heard-before unreleased demos from between 1997 – 1999. Plus, highly sort-after and collectable original remixes from Jega, André Estermann and most notably, Boards Of Canada – who made their first ever commercial remix for another artist for Michael back in 1998, also presented here fully remastered for this edition.
